The Pomeranian Council for Regional Migration Policy was established by Resolution No. 1249/491/23 of the Board of the Pomorskie Voivodeship dated 24 October 2023. It is composed of representatives of departments of the Marshal’s Office of the Pomorskie Voivodeship, organizational units of the Self-Government of the Pomorskie Voivodeship, representatives of local government units, representatives of central government administration, academic communities, non-governmental organizations (including international ones) involved in the implementation of integration activities, stakeholders of migration policy, and other entities that may provide substantive input to the Council’s work.
The Council’s activities constitute a continuation of the work carried out by the Task Force for Regional Immigration Policy, established by Resolution No. 330/318/2018 in the years 2018–2020 and by Resolution No. 885/284/21 in the years 2021–2023.
The Council has been established to ensure the ongoing sharing of knowledge, exchange of information, discussion of progress and barriers in the implementation of activities in the field of immigrant integration, as well as to stimulate cross-sectoral and multi-level cooperation with Pomeranian local government units, at the national and international levels.
The Development Strategy of the Pomeranian Voivodeship 2030, under Strategic Objective 2 “An Open Regional Community,” indicates that “systemic integration of immigrants is also an important task. It is necessary to undertake actions in the areas of economic, socio-cultural, legal-institutional, identity-related and spatial integration, which should lead to ensuring immigrants’ access to rights, opportunities and services available to all residents of the voivodeship.” The Council will monitor the implementation of the assumptions of the Pomorskie Voivodeship Development Strategy 2030 and the Regional Strategic Programme in the area of health security and social sensitivity.
