Joint meeting of three advisory bodies of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Board

We started the week with an important event: a joint meeting of three advisory bodies of the Pomeranian Voivodeship Board — the Pomeranian Entrepreneurship Council, the Pomeranian Council for Regional Migration Policy, and the Pomeranian Cooperation Platform for Foreign Nationals in the Pomeranian labour market.

The meeting focused comprehensively on the regional dimension of the migration situation. The event also addressed key industries in the subregions and the scope of the Pomeranian Smart Specialisations.

The meeting was opened by the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Mieczysław Struk, and Emil Rojek, the Vice-Voivode of Pomerania, who introduced the main themes of the session.

The first substantive part began with a presentation by Mr Michał Bruski from the Voivodeship Labour Office in Gdańsk, who presented data on the current labour market situation from the perspective of employment of migrants in our region.

Next, attention was given to the situation of people from Ukraine, which was presented in detail by Prof. Michał Nowosielski from WSB Merito University and Dr Rafał Raczyński from the University of Gdańsk.

Another important topic discussed during the event was human trafficking in the context of the labour market. This issue was addressed in a presentation by Mr Tomasz Bauer from the Nomada Association. Contributions and reflections on this topic were also provided by Ms Magda Dąbrowska from the Progres Group, Ms Karolina Stubińska from the Immigrant and Migrant Integration Centre, and the Deputy Director of the Regional Social Policy Centre, Agnieszka Zabłocka. She presented, among other things, the scope of a pilot project on migrant integration aimed at victims of human trafficking, implemented as part of the EU-BELONG project: An intercultural approach to migrant integration in European regions.

During the second part of the meeting, conclusions from a study on key industries in the subregions were presented, including an assessment of the situation of SMEs in the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
