First Meeting of the Pomeranian Council for Regional Migration Policy in 2025

On February 28, 2025, the first meeting of the Pomeranian Council for Regional Migration Policy was held in the Heraldic Hall of the Marshal’s Office of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.

Council members updated their knowledge on the situation of foreigners in Pomerania, sharing experiences with one another. Particular attention was given to challenges related to access to healthcare, including mental health services. Social security issues were also discussed, especially the participation of foreigners insured through the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS).

Valuable insights were shared by representatives from the Ministry of Health, ZUS Gdańsk, the Pomeranian Branch of the National Health Fund (NFZ), and UNICEF.

The meeting also included the latest information on the development of the network of Foreigners Integration Centers as part of the “Pomorskie WELCOME Center” project. The Centres aim to support legally residing foreigners in the region, facilitate integration, and provide information on available services.

The Pomeranian Council for Regional Migration Policy currently consists of 41 members, including representatives from departments of the Marshal’s Office, organizational units of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, local government authorities, national administration, academic institutions, NGOs (including international organizations), and other stakeholders involved in migration policy and integration initiatives.

The Council’s main task is to identify challenges related to the implementation of measures for the systemic inclusion of migrants and to analyze the needs of local governments and NGOs involved in migrant integration in the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
