[EU-BELONG] Science Lab #3 – The Role of Cognitive Biases

On March 30, the third and final Science Lab was held as part of the project: "EU-BELONG An Intercultural Approach to Migrant Integration in European Regions", co-financed by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund of the European Union.

The main topic of the Lab was the role of cognitive biases in shaping social attitudes, particularly toward individuals with migration and/or refugee experiences.

During the meeting, we examined the main sources of stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination. We focused on what can be done to minimize the influence of cognitive biases and thinking tendencies, and we also discussed acculturation strategies. We analyzed barriers to migrant integration, including:

  • Social

  • Technical

  • Legal

— and outlined preliminary proposals for steps and actions that could be taken to reduce these barriers from the perspective of the emerging intercultural integration strategy for the Pomeranian Voivodeship.

We sincerely thank all participants in the Labs, as well as the experts who equipped us with essential knowledge on how to continue working effectively and qualitatively for the benefit of migrants and Pomeranian migration policy.
