On 7 September 2026, a meeting of the Pomeranian Council for Regional Migration Policy was held at the Marshal’s Office of the Pomorskie Voivodeship, combined with a workshop aimed at representatives of public institutions providing services and support to third-country nationals. The meeting was opened by Agnieszka Baranowska, a Member of the Executive Board of the Pomorskie Voivodeship.
The event provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and broaden knowledge on contemporary challenges relating to communication on migration, in particular the risks arising from disinformation and influence operations. The training session and workshops were led by Paula Rejkiewicz and Edyta Iwaniuk from the Department of Strategic Communication at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The first part of the meeting was devoted to the anatomy of Russian influence operations. Participants learnt about the mechanisms and methods used in such operations and how to recognise potential communication risks. Subsequently, during the workshop session, participants worked together to identify communication risks relating to migration. Particular attention was paid to methods for recognising disinformation narratives and the challenges that public institutions may face when communicating on migration issues.
The second part of the workshop was practical in nature – participants learnt about methods and tools for countering disinformation at both the international level and within the national information landscape, and had the opportunity to analyse specific examples and consider effective ways of responding to attempts to manipulate information.
The meeting concluded with a presentation of the key findings and a summary of the collaborative work. The workshops also provided a forum for representatives of public institutions to exchange experiences and strengthen the skills necessary for responsible and effective communication in the field of migration. Building resilience to disinformation and developing the ability to recognise communication risks are key elements of efforts to ensure information security and the effective implementation of migration policy at regional level.
